To win, both teams need to be able to score 48 or more points (47 would be considered a push, which would mean you’ll get back your bet).
The Art of Betting on Football – Parlays:
Okay, so you’re familiar with straight bets. Straight bets are where you bet on just one item per wager. If you wish to bet several things at once, it’s called a parlay. It is possible to bet on 2 or 20 things (depends on the betting book).
Let’s say, for instance, you wager on the Seahawks and over the total of your ticket. That would be a 2-team parlay (even though technically there’s only one team in the parlay).
The more items you place on the ticket, the more you’ll win should they all fall. So, naturally, the more items on the ticket, the more difficult it will be to win.
Parlay bets are an all-or-nothing proposition. If one of the picks fails, the ticket is dead. Particular sportsbooks offer specials to get close, but this is highly uncommon.
If you’re interested in placing football bets using parlay tickets, you might look into “teasers,” which are parlayed tickets with added points to help you. For instance, rather than choosing the Packers at -10, you could purchase them at 3. However, returns are less as the risk is minimized.
